This year’s film festival takes place on April 23, 2016 in Davis, West Virginia. The 22 short films will screen at Verglas Media’s studio on the top floor of the historic National Bank of Davis building.

Focus

We are excited to be an international film festival, a home for creative, independent short film from around the world. But – there’s no doubt – we sprouted in Tucker. One of our primary goals is to shine a spotlight on the films and filmmakers of our area. We are also seeking to highlight films from the greater Appalachian region in order to showcase the depth of talent and creativity residing within these mountains. And, as in our inaugural year, we also welcome films from around the world.

Categories

Inspiring adventure films, thoughtful documentaries, fictional dramas full of emotion or comedy…or both. Categories include: Short Adventure, Short Documentary, Short Narrative, Short Animated/Music Video/Experimental. All films must have rights to the music used, or be original music.

Submission Specs

NOW ACCEPTING FILMS FROM THE APPALACHIANS TO THE HIMALAYAS. Films must have completed production between January 1, 2014 and March 20, 2016. You have from January 25 to March 20, 2016 to submit your film. Entry fee is $20 per film. We also have a $15 early-bird special for films submitted by February 28, 2016.

Awards

We tip our hats to those who choose filmmaking as their art form. The festival jurors will name an overall award in each category. In addition, we will have a special award selection for Appalachia filmmakers in each category. This means 8 awards total!
